Depending on the lithology being drilled, the selection of the site type follows the following principles:
1. Select the correct type of tricone bit. In shallow sections where the rock cement is loose, the main concerns are ROP and ball prevention; In the deep section, due to the length of the stroke, the main consideration is the bit life. If the outer teeth of the drill bit are severely worn, you are advised to use a drill bit with diameter protection teeth. In the inclined part, the bit with small slip and many short teeth should be selected. When selecting the tooth shape, use wedge teeth. For diamond limestone, a rotary stone drill head is recommended. When shale formation is large or drilling fluid density is high, it is recommended to use a large sliding bit. The formation is limestone and sandstone, so a small sliding bit is recommended. For drilling hard and high abrasive materials, rolling ball teeth and double cone bits should be used.
2. Check the tricone bit. Before it goes into the well. Check whether the selected drill type and diameter meet the requirements; Carefully check the position of screws, welds and teeth for integrity; Check whether the nozzle is firmly installed, the water eye should be smooth; By hand rotation of the drill bit, bearing seals should be complete; The pressure compensation system of the drill bit shall be complete and shall not block the pressure relief hole. Things to pay attention to when drilling. After cleaning the three roller screws, coated with special screw oil; Select the appropriate loader, the bit into the loader should not thrust; Drilling operation should be smooth and should not allow strong pressure when encountering resistance. Run the insert bit slowly to avoid damaging alloy teeth in hard holes and irregular holes. Well, the depth, drilling condition and time should be recorded to determine the cause of resistance and control the working time.
